Getting Ready - The Right Mindset

Success in international markets requires a positive, can-do mentality - the right mindset.  The following articles are designed to help you develop the right mentality and a successful international business:

  • Exporting and the War on Terror - In an increasingly global marketplace, exports have taken on greater importance for companies throughout the world and, for many, have become a routine part of their business. But exporters are sometimes surprised to learn that the U.S. government regulates and, in certain cases, flatly prohibits many export transactions. This has been true throughout U. S. history, during both wartime and peacetime.
  • The Euro Transition - U.S. Exporters May Gain From Switch to Euro After January 1.  Doing business in Europe? The transition to a single currency, the Euro, starting January 1 should cause few headaches for U.S. exporters and might even be helpful, according to the Commerce Department’s U.S. Commercial Service.
  • TM OnLine   - This free service from the Small Business Administration could mean plus business for you.
  • Top Ten Tips  - A strategic alliance or joint venture normally raises a myriad of business, tax and legal issues that the parties should address and resolve.
  • Tricks of The Trade - This article will tell you what you need to know to take your business global.  The benefits of exporting are clear—diversified customer base, insulation against domestic economic dips, and more overall sales. If you’d like to capture these advantages for your business, how do you get started? And what can you expect once your export sales have gotten off the ground?
  • Using an Export Management Company  - Does your firm have the time and specialized knowledge to enter new markets? Do you have the resources or personnel necessary to develop an export business? Is your business growing at a satisfactory rate? Is your firm receiving inquiries from overseas buyers? If you answered “no” to any of the first three questions and “yes” to the last question, you may want to consider turning over the job of building an export business to a specialized export sales firm called an export management company (EMC).
