Overview: Branch County is located in the southern part of the lower peninsula, bordering Indiana. It is traversed by I-69, US-12, and US-27. The county contains 508 square miles and ranks 69th in the state in terms of size. The county seat is
Coldwater. Branch County is largely agricultural with 70 percent of the land in farms. About one-third of the work force is engaged in manufacturing, particularly plastics products, fabricated metals, and metal doors, sash, and trim.
Hunting, fishing, boating, and other outdoor recreation activities are
offered in abundance. Principal exports include
automotive products, abrasives and water treatment products.
